There wasn’t a soloist
under the blanket anymore,
time moved on regardless;
it cared but I didn’t.

Though the coffee
and the cereal were ready,
made to stir,
and the clock pointed hands
to actions I should do,
I wouldn’t.

For you were asleep
next to me,
and dreams told me
it was the only place
to be.
