The lost fortune

When the seas broke
you were just a girl,
I was halfway to India.

Would that we had parted
on better terms,
but such is the navigation
of sees, we often don’t.

Ten years stranded
on foreign soil,
the crack of the mast
shuddered dreams.

Only to return to find
you no longer who you were
and I, indelibly castaway.

of sees we often don’t (man, I wish I could steal that one..but it’s yours and to use it would cheapen it’s worth..) I love the imagery and wordplay..it’s simpleness is it’s genius.

I have to say, this is one of my favourites that too that I’ve written, it just all came together so easily (which isn’t often the case)

Thanks for the replies, you’re too kind, it’s appreciated though 🙂
