A solitary watercolour day

We all need our unobserved corners,
the ones under the leaning tree
that keeps its distance,
which bends away to be discrete.
When disconnection sits
by the riverside,
sets up its easel,
paints lime days that otherwise
would only be too sketchy, too pale
for downstream words.

This piece goes so well with the one after (Just slightly faded).

“… paints lime days that otherwise would only be too sketchy, too pale for downstream words” — this flows beautifully. Interesting way of describing those days when the sky seems less blue and the sun a little dim, when we feel “pale,” but also wholly human.

I agree, this one matches the other one.

I like this little one, Mark.

    If only I could disconnect,
I wouldn’t have to be so distant.
Leaning your way is as close as I get.

  4. Matt says:

This one and the other one were written for the same picture. I knew you’d spot that.

UT, “Leaning your way is as close as I get.”

Leaning your way is as close as anyone gets, there must be another poem in there.
